Prize winner 2022. The motivation was: Martin Schibbye is best known as a foreign reporter in South and Southeast Asia. He has written in major newspapers such as “the Times”, Dagens Nyheter, the travel magazine Vagabond and others. Martin was arrested in 2011 together with Johan Persson during a job in Ethiopia on suspicion of terrorist crimes and was sentenced to eleven years in prison. He applied for clemency and came home to Sweden after 438 days. In 2013, Martin wrote a book about the incident entitled 438 days, which became a feature film in 2019. In 2017, he received the Martin Luther King Prize by courageously and stubbornly standing up against injustice with his pen as a weapon. The horn is dropped by Pelle.
